Well, in Google’s world it’s a very colourful operation, with a maze of colourful cables and pipes bursting into action processing your searches, showing your YouTube videos and sending out millions of Google+ and blog posts, such as this one, to millions.

Inside the Google campus network room, routers and switches allow data centres to talk to each other at speeds more than 200,000 times faster than a typical home Internet connection.
These colourful pipes carry water in and out of Google’s Oregon data centre.
